I couldn't decide whether to enter this in the Entrance or Exit challenge. I chose Exit because it had fewer entries. This is actually taken on the same afternoon as my Wildlife III entry, about 1/4 mile down the beach. Allex, my model from the B&W Portrait challenge, was my model again. It was an absolute blast to shoot. We got the "door" (plantation shutter, actually) from the Habitat for Humanity thrift store for $15, and hauled it to the tidepools in La Jolla. At sunset on the weekends, the area is usually overrun with wedding photographers, and this weekend was no exception. One pair of photogs was really entertained by us carrying the door down the cliff and setting up on the edge of the rocks. Sunset being what it is, we finished up at the same time as them, and started talking. They ended up buying the door from us for what we paid (I helped them tie it to the top of their Lexus), and offering us a free shoot the next time they're down at the tidepools.
Post processing: the usual stuff. Convert from raw, level the horizon, crop to remove a big nasty thing that was stuck to the lens, clone out loads of sensor spooge (ended up cleaning the sensor and lenses as soon as I finished, yuk!), curves, saturation, resize, neatimage, sharpen.

| I think it is funny that there is a door frame of some kind near the beach. But this is a pretty foto and I like how you captured the wind with the use of the scarf. |

something is just off here and I can't put my finger on it...and no, I don't mean the random door on the beach :)
I think I want there to be more light on the shawl and less on her body, sice I can still see the details of her back...hmm, I'm torn. |

| Love the idea: but a side-ways on might have been better...the silhouette is alienating for the viewer and such a large percentage of the image is in darkness... even a 3/4 on shot to give some more light to the subject would have added drama. That scarf could have been given more life streaming out behind the subject: less of a flat image by going from a different angle. |
