I have searched through the challenge for those entries where the negative space is more than just a plain black or white backdrop because, whilst I think that technique often makes for some really strong and high impact images, I̢۪m particularly drawn to entries where the negative space is relevant to the subject itself and actually contributes to the impact of the picture in a contextual as well as purely compositional way.
The expanse of baize definitely contributes to an impression of the final moments of a game and the unusual composition works too. The focus seems a little off – it’s falling on the pocket itself rather than the ball. |

Would have been better if this was th corner pocket with a lower angle. And also, the ball isn't quite in focus. |
