I never cease to be amazed at the lack of "depth" illustrated frequently on this site when it comes to the appreciation of different styles of photograph.
While the subject matter of this particular image is understandably not to everyone`s taste..you have managed to give it a great deal of impact by rendering the shapes and textures in an interseting way in the technique you`ve used.
Well done. |

fools they - all who voted 1 or 2.. this is a great photo. sucks when people don't realize you attempted this look on purpose, and they tell you what you probably should've done.. (i.e. different iso, less contrast, different lighting.) noobs.. noobs.. |

Greetings from the Critique Club!
Let's get right down to business. We won't even discuss the score, because we both know why this shot did so poorly, and I'm sure you expected it to. But, it isn't always about the score.
You have portrayed a strong feeling here. Your shot is clearly stout with the humor factor, which seems to be what you were going for. Your composition is great, and I love the negative space at the top. The angle you have used for this shot gives this throne a very "royal" feel. And the post processing makes it fantastic. I can't imagine that a "regular" shot of the toilet like this would have quite as much impact on me.
Basically, I love this shot, and though I didn't see it during voting, I would have scored it quite highly. My favorite part is the way the tile on the wall transitions from black to white, clearly giving context to the toilet. A shot like this will probably never do well on DPC, but I love to see it.
Oh yeah, as for meeting the challenge, I'm sure lot's of low votes came from that. As for me, I think that if this is a sacred place to you, then I am no one to say you are wrong.
I hope to keep seeing great work like this from you!

I can appreciate the humor involved with this shot (or the seriousness) because I deal with college students all the time. Almost my entire staff is college students. However I really can't say that I can appreciate the 'digital art' approach to this shot. If it was done in a more traditional way would I like it? I can't say that as the subject material typically isn't one I wanna put on my wall...

I worshipped there many times in college, but the photo doesn't do anything for me. Maybe less white and more details would help. |

Artistic rendering. Enough contrast to distinguish some of the features. Good angle, too. Having never "worshipped" here I have had moments of serenity and also spent no mean amount of time devoted to studying here. Inventive interpretation for this challenge. |

Hehehehehe... I had this Idea but couldn't find the perfect toilet for the job! :-) I unfortunately don't like the way this was post processed as I don,t see the link with sacredness or College. 6 |

To be so graphic with your image doesn't bother me so long as I know why. This communicates the majesty of the toilet very well both with the extreme contrast and the point of view. I'm not sure it communicates 'sacred' to me, though. |

A dramatic rendering - like a sculpture of a god...funny. I like the angle of looking up at it. Odd black spots at the top. If your lighting had illuminated the back ( under on the right) of the toilet it wouldn;t have the big amorphous black shape o the right. Or perhaps just cropping in from the right would pull things together more? |

Love this idea but what I don't care for is the top portion of the photo. It is too blank and doesn't add much to the photo being as how white it already is in parts. IMHO. |

The concept is valid and I love the humor! However, the high key isn't realy working for me with this shot. 5 for the effort. |
