 Title: The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield

OK OK so it's not a star.

This shot was a lot of fun. It was a 30 second exposure at F 14. Shot with my 18-55mm lens at 18mm. The small apeture generated the starbust effect that you see. It is actually the MOON, not a star. You might notice that ALL lights got that pattern. THERE WAS NO FILTER ON THE LENS. I wish the trucks were not in the background, but I guess I'll have to settle to just burn them in the print version. There are also some hot spots that I will want to remove from the print version. I already have friends asking me if this picture will be made into a print.

Process: Very little colour manipulation in PS. The colour you see is what was really there, if your eyes could absorb 30 secs of light. Crop, auto colours, very slight levels, then Neatimage to clean up the noise from the long exposure. Back to PS for some more levels, colour balance, and removal of oversaturated colours. USM and border.

Voila!

Absolutely gorgous...was a polarizer lens used to get the flared star? Very nice! I give it a 10!

The lighting on the trees with the dark sky and star filter gives the picture an eerie other world look. It is perfect for the title. Nice job.

Great color and exposure depth, bet you wish you could spot-edit out some of those lens reflections. Have a bit of trouble connecting the title though...good photo.

Incredibly sharp image - either a really still night or a fabulous piece of USM work. Star filter, and that's the moon, yeah? I like the way the extraordinary light in the sky contrasts with the humdrum world below - and the colour in the trees is just enough to add a little visual interest to that humdrum world.

Very nice use of glow and light/dark contrast, but the lens flare detracts just a bit from the image. Nice work, and truly a solid 8.

great lighting and colors! Those golden trees and that blue sky! A bit of glare in the lens, not a big deal. I like the path coming down to meet the viewer, the lighter line of clouds lower in the sky. Wish the buildings on the left weren't there, but they aren't too distracting. 8

A striking image with wonderful richness of colour and light. What a contrast of deep blue skyand golden leaves. Leading line of tree trunks and road into the distance is also pleasing - a good composition.
