Wanted something relatively abstract and anonymous but leaving no mistake as to the subject matter... going for quite a classical nude but with unusual lighting.
Specifically, one wireless flash, set to quite a wide zoom, with a red gel firing into a large white diffuser behind the model, and another from the front of the model, zoomed in quite tight, with a blue gel. I liked the interplay of the soft orange glow on the curves combined with the harsh blue front-light that adds definition and texture, and where the two combine a fairly average white light results. In reality there was a spot of reflected fill-in from the master unit as well, that wasn't entirely intended, but prevented the shadows on the model from getting too deep.
Trying to make a feature of the circular diffuser, without going for the cliche of having the entire circle in - just enough of the corners to deliniate its shape, while maintaining a dynamic composition. I guess the voters will decide if i succeeded or if the dark corners are just distracting.
Editing:
Of all the outtakes, this needed the least postprocessing - just a bit of dodging and burning to separate the diffuser from the black background a bit better. No crop, resize, sharpen. |

| Nice idea and well executed. I think this would work better as a B&W image as there seem to be different light sources here with different colour temperatures. The B&W would hide this. 7 |

| This is definitely a unique shot, but honestly I'm not a huge fan of it. I can't really explain why, but I think it may be the mix of light temperatures. You have warm tones in the background and rimlight, but a cooler light source lighting the front of the model. |
