I actually like this image very much. I don't mind the shadows on the left side at all. On my calibrated monitor it actually has good detail and I think it makes the photo more interesting than just having even lighting on both sides. Background lighting looks good. I also don't like the finger on the chin, to distracting and doesn't look natural. Overall, I think the lighting (the reason you posted this I think) looks great. |

over all not bad...you cast a pretty mean shadow on his right half (left as one views the image).
a big white just off camer and you fixed it and retain a pretty good ratio.
the pose is bad. the hand should NOT be on the chin the way it is, it makes him look hunched over and forward, more over the fingers are spread and thats not the best as well...
refine the pose and give that side a fill (a big sheet of white paper board works well if you don't have a true reflecter to fill with)
not half bad tho keep at it...

Looks good. I like the background lighting. Personally, I prefer a slightly more contrasty image, and also would have done more unsharp mask. Great lighting on the face, especially the catchlights in the eyes. |
