Thanks for having a look at this photo. One of Umberto Eco's book has a similar photo on the cover, but that's color. I decided for a different look, that's black and white and with books closer to the lens (filling the frame). The dark becoming light is supposed to show what Eco does: he shines the dark ages, doesn't he? I don't know whether the dark is so extreme; it's black, but not so much, and only for a small part of the photo.
Thanks to JPR for giving me something more than a ribbon! |

I'm not sure what the extreme darkness on the left is doing for you. a different lighting scheme might have worked better. 7 |

I really like the shadow in this photo, and how the subject takes up all of the space. |

I love Umberto Eco. Nice idea. The shadow is a bit too deep on the left, but the rythm and filling the frame withe books was a nice idea. |

I think I would have preferred the lighting to be centered on the bindings. It makes me feel like these are very old books and since you chose to use the bindings as the center of attention, it would have worked better for me if that was where the dramatic lighting hit.Refreshing idea though for the challenge.Very creative and good use of thinking outside the box. |

Nice effect. Not so sure about the way the books fade to total blackness though, but I like this image. |

Umberto Eco!:) I like this. I also lie the "old" tone. I can smell that sweet old book aroma, like in a very old library. |

great detail, love that each book seems to have a different personality without having to even see the covers. 9 |
