Day 24 of second 30 days of SP's

Well, I would not/could not enter a shot of myself into the nude challenge for fear of a 3.5 or something ego crushing and I don;t have a model to use. so I did this shot to prove to myself that that was the real reason for not entering and not just because I'm scared to show some skin. This Isn't THAT bad really in terms of nudity/how much showing but I'm not the nude model type so it's still rough for me. and it's real. Not the most flattering pose, no cloning, or anything like that...actually as I type this I'm talking myself out of posting it..thinking to myself "Well, maybe lose 50 lbs first..then do a shot like this..What are you trying to prove?" ugh!...

oh. and I've been told the lip being pushed up is distracting. I like it. to me it adds to the "What am I doing?" slapped myself in the face look I had going while shooting this.

Oh, Crystal ... this is SO human and SO feminine and SO beautiful and SO real and tech wise great TOO! ... Congratulations on ALL fronts!

I agree that you should not listen to those who say the lip pushed up is distracting ... whatever it is, it sells the honesty of this shot even more to me. That is this man's opinion.

This is one of the most emotive (and dare I say sexy) self-portraits I've seen here. The nudity is really only incidental, as you 'happen' to be naked. This would & should have scored highly in the challenge.

You make 'body beautiful' what you make it.

ROCK ON!!! This is terrific! Beautifully composed and processed. I love the pushed up lip and expression - it suits & supports the composition well. And I don't think you have ANYTHING to worry about with the whole body-image thing. You look great. You also look comfortable in your own skin - which means a lot. Well done!!!

It's a great photo Crystal and I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of. I'd say something more, but your hubby might read it, although I'm sure he'd agree with what I said ;-D

this is a powerfully emotional work to me - I think it's terrific, and if I voted this would be a 10 (no longer a member so the point is moot).

Your work just amazes me - a whole new level across the board.

I really don't think you had anything to worry about. I think you would have scored really well in the nude challenge. This shot is lightyears better than the one I submitted.

superb use of focus, and i agree with you about the hand; funny, as i saw your mouth / face / hand & HEARD you saying "what am i doing" !

i think you are a beautiful person, regardless of what you may see in the mirror, and you should be proud of yourself for pushing that invisible line a little further

BTW - what in the hell did you do to make your wedding band POP like that?

Thanks for the comment and kind words. It's funny about the ring. I guess we have magical rings or something. I didn't do anything to it in this shot and my husband didn't do anything to his in this shot of his: but they really stand out in both shots for some reason. Weird! they are silver, not the usual gold. maybe that's why... I'm not sure.

Well done. Don't have any regrets. This is much more real and engaging than the majority of nude photographs showcasing women with impossibly perfect bodies. You look great, and the photography is top notch.

The lighting in this shot is PERFECT! I love the way it just hits the side of the body, face, hair, and arm! Even the thumb is interesting to look at. Your expression is great and I see nothing at ALL wrong with your body! B&W rocks!! I agree though, it is hard to get in front of your camera completely sans clothing! (especially when you are not comfortable with yourself even though others don't see what you do) I think we tend to pick out our own personal flaws and blow them out of proportion. I am guilty of it as well. After having babies, who isn't? LOL I Applaud You!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with the light, the pose or the model. Don't sell yourself short.

Very brave and not at all unflattering. The pushed up lip is real. The wedding ring is also nice. :)

I like that you are just right there, raw and unabashed. GREAT tones. I like the texture of the tile behind you to add a bit of geometry to the shot. THIS IS GOOD.

I love it! Love the pose! Love the water! Love the B&W! 8 from me. :)
Wouldn't have had the same impact without the pushed up lip, I reckon:) Great stuff!

Very bold of you..........

I like it. The lip being pushed up adds emotion.

Remember rules are meant to be broken.
