For me the DOF is not shallow as the most part of the image (the bird and the water) is in fact in focus with a small part of the image (the grass or else) is clearly out of focus. When I look for shadow DOF i'm looking for a very small part of the image in focus. Exemple in this shot if the grass was in focus and the rest out of focus this would be shallow. Beside, I think this shot is good with the bird maybe only too near the center of the frame. |

If duck was sharper, I could understand the DOF with the reeds in the foregroud...as it is now, it is all out of focus. |

The willows are a little distracting to me, and don't enhance the subject. That is of course just my opinion. Also, I think a less centered composition would have worked better. It would have been so cool if you could have captured the goldeney in a larger "window" so that he would have been framed by the oof willows. Again, just mho and it is a great capture. |

In my humble opinion, the DOF isn't shallow enough here. |
