 This is Sif Aradóttir, miss Iceland 2006. This wasn´t shot for the challenge, we went out to take photos for week 5 of my portrait a week series and this was one of the last photos we took, shortly after the sunset and only lighting is ambient, she is facing the sunset. Just thought it fit the challenge pretty well so why not submit?

I chose this location cause the lighthouse (not sure you can tell it´s a lighthouse though if you don´t know the location) is very symbolic for the part of the country she is from, or Reykjanes, the lighthouse is named Reykjanesviti.

Post processing of course very minimal as per the basic rules and nothing I would have done more in advanced except for maybe lightening her coat just a bit. Just raw conversion, shadow/highlights+curves and sharpened after resizing.

I don´t think you can tell in this resolution but she actually has a tear going down her chin and another one forming in the other eye. I know what you are thinking but NO, not cause I kicked her in the shin but it was very windy :)

Canon Lens what can you say except Nikon lens rock more important the light makes this photo shine.

We're doomed.

If Miss Iceland gets bored there, let her know she can always come down to sunny California, but a slight wardrobe change may be needed.

Very lovely shot, great DOF and beautiful eyes and lips. I really like the range of the shot also. Well done as always, and congrats on top 10.

Nope, never and am not complaining either, hehe :)

Also only got 6 comments in voting for this shot and it scored even higher although did not make top 10.



Oh and just wait Brad, the 85mm 1.2 is on the shopping list, might even get it before the summer :)

The sharpness of the fur on the had and the strands of hair shows how the focus is right on her. Nice.
