Wow! You actually found a use for selective desat! This is a great shot, and congrats on being first! :) (BTW: I got a new fav!)

Normally, I don't care for selective desturation, but it really helps to emphasize the train here. good composition.

Just another great shot from you. I really like where you put the horizon and the curve of the tracks is just ... perfect. Nice desat, too!

very nice image. i like the desat too, although i think a little multiply or burning in te lower left corner would draw the eye in to the train more.

good work!

Nice selective desat. And no, stay away from the tracks.

very nice work with the selective desat. The composition is good, but you might try standing on the tracks next time until the engineer is laying heavy on the horn. j/k

Nice use of leading lines to draw the eye into the shot. I'm not a huge fan of selective desaturations, though this one is well done, but I'm obviously very much in the minority here.

I like the selective desat. I might have to try a train shot or two myself. Nice shot.

Really like how you make the train pop in this shot. Very nice angle.

by coloring only the train you make it stand out. The angle of the track also draws the eye to th train. Nice.

Oh I LOVE how you desaturated everything but the train. From this view, "Middle of Nowhere Australia" could be San Antonio, Texas :)

Can't wait to see more!

Great shot; this is definitely something I'm going to need to learn to do (selective desat); what a great effect.

like the shot and the way the selective desat make the train pop from the photo.

I like that you left the train in color were everything else is black and white. not what I picture austrailia to look like I almost reminds me of my home town in Idaho USA.

Desat brought me right to your subject. Very nice image and flow with the tracks! May be my monitor, but upper corners look like curves got out of control there and caused some banding of greyscale.

Great shot, love the colour on the train, makes it pop out. I actually live down the road from the place where Stevenson's Rocket was built and run (worlds first steam engine). The Rainhill to Liverpool line was one of the first railway lines..........I'm not always such a swot.....honest!

This has been a familiar site for me too. The selective desaturation works well it may have been better if it was just the front of the train? maybe/maybe not.
I like the composition as well.

Is that really the color of the train? The trains near my house are all boring rust colored.

The selective desat does a good job of making the train stand out but the grays are a little flat. Maybe bump the contrast on everything but the train up a little bit.
