 because we don't have deserts or dryed out lakes here I had to simulate dry ground with clay. maybe I didn't do a very good job but I think you get the idea.
Duplicated the layer, added an omni light, then set the opacity to 60%, lightened the foreground a bit by erasing the second layer at the bottom.

Beautiful shot and setup. Love the color in the flower, and the sharpness is right on. Also really like the use of negative space. Nice work.

Is that supposed to look like a desert? It's too red. It doesn't look dry at all.
