Land was set aside for a church yard in Falmouth's charter of 1728. The present structure, the third church to be erected on this lot, was built in the early nineteenth century. The church was used on a rotational basis by four denominations, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists, and Baptists, thus its name Union Church. Except for its remaining brick narthex, this place of worship was destroyed by a heavy rain storm in 1950. The earliest standing tombstone is dated 1738.

That is the most interesting looking church. It's so narrow! The colors are enhanced so well! It looks so rich and beautiful! What an interesting history it has too!

Great perspective. It's amazing that there is as much church left after all that time.

Very interesting history and architecture. I like how you captured the light and shadow from the tree on the front.

Impressive. A 2 pew church.
This is a structure with an interesting history, and it is good that the front part survived for us to see.
Nice sky, and good lighting. The tree shadows add a lot IMO.

What an odd looking church! It looks so skinny, I can't imagine there'd be room for many people in there, let alone an altar or organ/piano!

Nice shot. Interesting looking structure, certainly appears to be "thin". Thanks for the history lesson. Love to hear about all the interesting stories/tales/events in our link.
