 saw this lighting set-up on Strobist.com and had to try it. used a black tile that I had polyurethaned with gloss. Reflected a flash off a blue background, and lit with off-camera flash and diffuser.

PP - opened Raw, and converted in PS adjusting exposure, white balance, and saturation. Cropped, then added layers for curves, cloned out a couple of dustspots, burned slightly on left side of lemon. added a duplicate layer so I could adjust the color on the top-side of the lemon, which had a blue tint from the reflected light. AFter submitting the first time, I cropped again (the original crop had the entire reflection in the image).

The reflection seem mute because there is no reference for it.

Nice setup & lightning. It's hard to get that "juicy" appetizing look on the fruit, and you've done a great job! My only suggestion would be to desat & blur the blue background a bit. The sharpening artifacts show up quite a bit in the deep blue. Good luck in the challenge!
