Built in the 1770's, this house was part of a plantation of almost 1,300 acres. Fielding Lewis purchased the first parcel of this estate in 1752, two years after he married Betty. Her brother, George Washington, surveyed Fielding Lewis' new property, which was outside the village of Fredericksburg at the time

Good history, and a very simple house design. I like the way the shadow sort of makes the other house to the right almost disappear.

Doesn't the history just radiate from that grande old house! I wonder if any of the houses built today would still be standing over 225 years from now! What amazing stories the walls in that house could tell!

This is a very Georgian looking building, the windows and the symmetry. I like the sun shining on it with the shadows of the trees.

i truly wish these old buildings could talk. on second thought, that would be kinda creepy, but it would be interesting to know all that it has "seen and heard."
