The building this clock is on dates from the early 1400s, and was the Guildhall for the City of Norwich (where I live). The clock was added in the 1850s (as a gift from the mayor). There is a good summary of the history (including timeline) here:

Guildhall

Did some work on the sky to bring out the blue, then levels, curves, hue/sat, contrast, unsharp mask, resize, save for web.

Very nice detail can be seen in this - like the figures on either side of the clock. I wonder if the hands are original (or the clock workings for that matter). Good PP to bring out the sky but not overdo it. (PS - the link doesn't seem to have anything there - just \\\)

When I was a child, I lived in Germany, and that is one thing I vividly remember. . .the OLD OLD grand clocks as architecture in European towns. Thanks for stirring that wonderful memory of childhood. This is so amazing!

I noticed the ornate detail in the art on the buildings when I was in London a few years ago. No one seems to care to do that sort of decorative work any longer. Thank you for the little side trip with the link to the history. Good image the way you shot it and did the touch up work.

Great detail on the clock and the sky really is a great blue backround for the gray clock.

Lovely. I like this perspective...and the color of the sky is so pretty. Almost looks like it's about to storm.
