These are the hands of Tim and Rowan. I love her typical little kid dirty fingernails - there is no keeping this kid clean! Turned out pretty grainy. Nasty halo from trying to sharpen it to an acceptable focus - woe to the basic editing rules. Boring background & uninspired shot but I still like it from a Mom's perspective. That's never good for the score but I had to enter something for WPL!
Shot in Raw next to one of our windows for light. RAW conversions. Elements - levels, neat image, unsharp mask, hue/saturation, selective color, brightness contrast, crop, border, save for web

I can't believe this got a 6.1. THANKS!
I really wanted to reshoot it to get a cleaner shot but my model was throwing a fit, screaming, whining, rolling on the floor - it was quite a spectacle. I would have thought he'd be embarrased to behave like that in front of his two year old! ; ) Hee hee - maybe I have my story switched a bit! |

don't you love "cooperative models." I've got one of those, too. (I'll let you figure out if it is Bernard or the kids). I like the message in this. Did you try it in bw and see what would happen? Because there is not a lot of contrast between the background and hands, bw may (or may not) help. |

Congrats on the score! Nice job with editing, it worked very well for you. Maybe using the 50mm would have worked better for this type of shot?

Can't go wrong with that illustration of love :) It's beautiful! And I love the realism that her dity little fingernails give the photo too. Like it's not set-up.

Good portrayal of love between a father and his child. I really like this one. Good job caputuring the detail in their hands. |

This would have got a much, much higher score from me if it wasn't for the very visible 'halo' around the lower side of the hands. It is also a shame that the child's finger nails are not clean - a minor detail, but one that does have an effect on the viewer. Nonetheless, a very pleasing composition. |

Nicely done with the tight crop. I think this one might work better if it had a different color background to offset the color of the hands a little more. Also seems like there is a slight halo around the hands, especially to the left side. A product of resize or sharpening? |
