The Fleda Elders Band. This bunch is a loosely connected group of musicians who have lived and played music in this area for many years, and in many different bands. Once a month, there is a covered dish dinner, and music at the community center in Felda. Sometimes I sit in and play drums, but the regular drummer was not there, so there were no drums. Music and dinner starts at 7: and goes until everyone is tired, sometimes as late as 1 or 2 AM. Musicians go on and off the stage when they want, while the music is going. It's an old country town sort of event, not quite like anything I have seen elsewhere. The guy on the right is 88 now.

Very interesting! I've never heard the term "covered dish dinner", it that like a potluck (where everyone brings a dish)?

That looks like so much fun! Thanks for sharing the story and the photo. It reminds me a bit of Irish jam sessions that go on for hours in pubs around here. I'm a musician of Irish and English traditional music, so I sit in sometimes with penny whistle and bodhran. -- I hope we get to see more pictures of this monthly event!

What fun and I'm glad you shared this with us! Hopefully these guys don't mind that you're takin' pictures of 'em. :-) This is music at it's best, in my opinion. Very real.

Theese are great events. We have one just about like it here in Walnut Grove. Its amazing the amount of talent that is right here in our comunity and i think that is neat. often they are more fun then going to a concert you pay big bucks for. Good to see your comunity does this too.
