greetings from the critique club :)

forst off i would like to say that although this image did not score that well... technically it is great, the focus the bokeh and the composition all contribute to make this photo technically flawless. The one thing that is missing from this photo is appeal. I can't tell youhow many times ive entered an image into a challenge thinking "this is great, one of the best shots ive ever taken" only to realize once voting has begun that although the photo is technically great, it has very little mass apeal.

One thing to consider when entering these challenges is to put yourself into the shoes of the voter. On first imapct what would your impressions be, because you have to remember that the majority of the voters are going to be speeding through the images, meaning that yours has to pop out from the rest. The one thing i think would make this photo pop out more would be a bt more processing. Add some contrast to the blurred escalators, and maybe add a bit of a green tone and some grunge effects. Check out Joey Lawrence's shot its not technically that pleasing, however he made it pop by the processing used.

if you have any comments or questions feel free to contact me via PM.

Yeah, I had this alot in the comments..... this picture was taken in London, in the Westminster Underground (metro or subway) station.

There is a lot to look at, I wanted to have the chains as the obvious-in-focus subject, but have the background pull your eyes away and grab some of your interest, but at the same time always returning to the chains...... a bit of an experiment, from the comments, I can see one that didn't work!

Interesting perspective with the chains. Makes this a bit menacing for some reason.

the only thing in focus are the chains.

interesting focus. the focus on the chain doesn't bother me as much as the piece cutting across the bottom

The diagonals are yummy, and the hanging chain in the foreground is nice. It just doesn't come together for me, sorry.

maybe a longer exposure blurring the riders up & down rather than focusing on the chain would have worked better

I feel this would have been better if the escelator were sharp, rather than the chain.

I don't mind that the escalators are out of focus, but the foreground elements ditract IMO. Still like it; 6.

OK...

I guess the blurred bg could be construde as a street photograph.

But why in the world do I care for the chain? What is the significance?

I am not convinced that this is Westminster.

I can't even give you a proper critique. Sorry.

uninteresting shot, doesn't convey a message (at least to me). Lacks of the essentials of Street Photography.

Not very street oriented...but great focus on the chain.
