I think "Parade day" was a great choice for the Street Photography challenge. I think it is very interesting that most of the top placing photos were all in black and white. Great job picking up on the importance of this type of shot being in black and white.
I really like how you choose to focus directly on the subject. I think voters may have had a hard time with this. Also the focus is great because it allows us to feel the movement of the piece. The only thing I would say is maybe if we could increase the contrast just a little bit to really grab the viewers attention.
Keep up the excellent work!

beautiful. You've taken a picture of their music, of their chaotic march. 9 |

Looks a lot like the parade I went to! Nice use of both DOF and motion blur to isolate the one player. |

Nice DOF but the focus is a bit soft |

I like this one. A tiny bit more contrast and a non-square format would be better, IMO. |

Nice! Great sense of motion, and the shallow dof and relatively sharp focus on the trumpeter is just right imo. B/W seems a tad flat, although the darks show fine detail and the highlights for the most part aren't blown except on the brass instruments. If mine I would probably have cropped more vertically, losing the busy-ness at the right edge, and especially that paper plate (I think?) that the woman is using to shield her eyes... that element is pretty distracting to me. Congrats on a great photo! |
