 This is a hut for drying fish located just outside of Reykjavik, near Grótta lighthouse. I had some trouble framing properly because it was so dark. The aurora was faint and was not in the right direction for my point of view. Still nice to have 'em inside the frame. The framing was to include a nice angle of the hut and star sign Big Dipper (Charles' Wain) above. I did several shots mostly for getting the cars that drove once in a while past to light the hut. Processing includes noise removal, and some shadow/highlight, USM and curves. I may have fiddled with the color balance, I'm not sure. Hope people will not feel I'm stretcing the theme too far.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

COMPOSITION... I love this photo, and am a big sucker for night shots in general. The fact that the aurora was faint and not at the angle you would have like does not distract from the beauty at all. The leaning shed takes up the appropriate amount of space, allowing a huge amount of clear sky. The big dipper takes a backseat to the aurora as well it should.

TECHNIQUE... This is a wonderfully captured night shot. The shed has enough light so as not be be dark, but not so much that it distracts from the scene.

OVERALL.. You have met the challenge nicely, and the photo itself is nicely done. The expanse of sky is very dramatic, the aurora shows up well and the stars are wonderful. I am sorry this critique is not more detailed. There is really nothing I would change, nothing you could have done to improve this photograph. I gave it a 10 during voting.

Great shot. I am a fan of nature shots.Nice reflection of the blue on the front of the builing. I think just a grey front(like the side) would have made it look flat. NICE work!!

Marvelous shot, but it doesn't have a thing to do with the theme, as far as I can "feel".

there seems to be a general theme of shooting things you love without actually expressing the theme of love itself

so to me.. a shot that does not show love is not a love shot and therefore doesn't meet the criteria
