Great clarity and focus on this. The white balance is pretty good, although the white has a slight cool (bluish) cast to it. I'm wondering if you used flash on this - at first glance it would appear to be yes (glint in eye, slight glare on lower beak), but the shutter speed is throwing me off. Would have thought the shutter speed to be higher than 1/60 - reduced for fill flash in low light situation perhaps? :-)

Compositionally I would have trimmed a bit off the left to try and bring the eye more to a ROT point. Just a thought.

I do have to say I'm a tad jealous of the location! Hawaii, eh? Nice. Been there twice, last time in the last 80's.

I'm also a tad embarrassed to just now notice you've been tossing some challenge entries into the mix recently - I should know what my 'Fav' photographers are up to! :P

Hope all is well with you. Take care.

Good detail and color (gotta' love Macaws for color!). I think you could crop out quite a bit of the negative space on the left; I'd try it so the distance from the top of the head to the left edge equalled the distance from the beak to the bottom edge.

Beautiful bird..altho for me, this image would look better right ways up...If the bird is indeed sideways, seeing more of him ( or her) would help..to me it looks like you rotated the picture and I am not sure why...6
