I like going to this waterfall, but being winter and really busy, I had forgotten about it. That was, until the day we got the local paper and on the front page was a picture of my brother-in-law photographing it the previous week. It was frozen almost solid. Thanks for inviting me along, Gary. Well, by the time I got there, we had had a slight warm up, so the ice was beginning to melt, so this is what I got. I had to sort of illegally park my car to get this. There is a parking lot at the top of the trail that leads to the waterfall, but the state park service doesn't clear the snow from the lot in winter. The gate was locked with a sign that said "No Parking". I parked in front of the sign along the road. The trail wasn't cleared either. There was about 4" in snow with a sheet of ice on top. You could walk right on top of it without breaking through. You also need to cross a stream to get this angle on the waterfall. They have rocks and stones. That's okay on the summertime. Winter with ice? It was a little scary, but I made it both ways.
Post process:
adjust in Adobe RAW, convert to Photoshop, resize, dodging, burning, shadow/highlight, Smart Sharpen, USM, Noise Ninja
This is probably the most I've ever processed. I hope I didn't go too far and screw it up.

| thats beautiful, however I feel the sky and trees at the top distract from how beautiful the water fall is. |

| How PRETTY! The slow dreamy water still falling with most of the rest of the falls frozen is so beautiful! I love this photo. |
