Challenge: Scents and Aromas (Classic Editing)

As part of any animals survival instincts they have to use their nose to locate their food source. I am sure there will be people that will comment and say she is not smelling she is just eatting. However she is doing both, and the two do go very strongly together.

Take at the Melbourne Zoo.

Cropped, used channels to make black and white, then curve to add some more contrast, then I played with the actually contrast tool itself, sharpened, and resized, and this is the finished result.

This is my first entry in a while, and my second with the C-5050Z, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Anothering I want to note here. Even though it is a black and whire image, to due to the large amounts of background noise, the file was extremely large still. I have to compress it down to a pretty low level, so unfortunatly it has lost a lot of quality I fill.

I have given up on even trying to guess where an image of mine will end up. I will say this though, I like this image, and I am happy with it. That is really all that is important to me as far as I am concerned.

The only thing I would change is the background, but when you are working with animals at a zoo, you really do not have that option. You take what you are given.

I keep coming back to this. I like the b/w, I like the reach of the zebra's neck from the bottom right corner. The curves of the zebra's head and neck are mirrored i the wall behind. I might crop some of the top off, make it a little less busy. 8

I like the image very much, though it conveys "taste" more than "smell" to me, personally.

Not conveying the topic at all.

Nice contrast, looks good as B/W.

Beautiful animal. They make for good contrast and the b&w works well here. I don't think this is good but not 'strong' for this challenge. Overall it's a good shot and I like the crop but would of trimmed the left a bit more.

Good B&W, it just did not have a strong aroma to me. 5

i really like the tones on this..can't say I agree with the aroma in this picture..its not the first thing I think of when I see this, except that wild animals never smell very good! On composition, bw is always a good choice when it comes to a zebra ;) but I think that there is too much distracting stuff above his head...why did you leave it in? Do you think it adds to the message you are trying to convey? If you don't have satisfactory answers to those questions, i think i'd consider cropping it out! :) nice capture though. :)
