Home built by one of my ancestors. Now communtiy property, and used for local events and functions. It is on the national reg of historic places. Built in 1914.
Google or Yahoo " F A Hendry" for more history if interested.
His daughter Laura was my great grandmother.

Captain F A Hendry is the nephew of my great great great grandfather Robert McFail Hendry, whom is the brother of James Edward Hendry. It was at Robert McFail hendry's home in georgia that James Edward hendry became ill and passed away.

I have admired this home for many years. Every time I am in the area I visit the grounds and try to imagine what life would have been like when this home was built. I would love to see floor plans for it. Do you know if there are any? I have been told that you can't view the interior of this home, especially the 2nd floor due to structural concerns.

What a beautiful house, I just love the roof and porch. How interesting to have that family history!

Great story behind this place. You should cut and paste what you wrote in the forum into the photographer's notes so it stays with the picture. Very nice framing with the trees, and good exposure control to keep the detail in the white, too.

Wonderful shot, through the trees works well here, and gives some nice perspective. I love the history lesson, too. About all I know of my ancestors beyond my grandparents is that someone in my line was kicked out of England and went to the U.S.; why? I've heard he was a thief :) Now that I'm living back here (in England), I hope no one looks up my lineage! I might get kicked out again!

Can you even dream about how cool it would be to live there! Jeeeeeeez. I get a warm fuzzy just looking at it. What a heritage you have. That's awesome. I love the way you composed this shot with the foreground trees accentuating the whiteness and charming look of that home!
