This image evokes in me you leaving the site. We are the lone figure watching you sail away.... |

I've had fun poking around your portfolio, and just spotted this one. I actually remember it from the challenge, and it grabbed me back then, too. Into my favorites it goes, and I just corrected the oversight of you not being on list of fave photographers. :)
This is a very powerful story, and the image grain adds hugely to it. Congrats again! |

Not sure if the grain really adds to this or not - but I love the starkness of this image. Really good. |

Amazing shot and wow look at the placement. So much interest in the photo. Simple yet still little touches that really pull the frame together. |

I gave this a 7 and never got a chance to come back and bump it or give it a comment. Zeuszen said it all, except it never even occurred to me that anything was offbalance with this shot. |

Don't know why I've just seen this for the first time but I'll say that this is my favorite image in this challenge. It's one of the few where the grain adds so much to an already wonderful capture. |

Wow, how did I miss this! And it was an honorable mention in one of my favorite challenges. This is AWESOME! The use of grain enhances this so much -- and the emotional mood of it is just beautiful!

Maybe a small complaint, bit I think it's a pity about the extra sets of footprints in the sand. It'd be that much better if there was only the one set, like the guy had walked somewhere secluded to watch the ship disappearing. 8. |

Considering how unconventionally high the horizon, with the bold silhouetted figure also placed in the upper half of the image, the rocks interfere with a phenomenal potential of a simple and powerful composition, which would be perfectly balanced without it.
The ferry, while compositionally redundant, makes for a fine metaphor as appears in the same pure white as the sand grounding the man, whose foot prints lead to anyone looking. The same can be said about the horizon intersecting with the subject's head: it actually aids the metaphor.
A wonderful image, really, full of sweet ache and tension, spanning several miles and then some: an easy favourite. |
