focal length - 17mm

no sharpening, just resized in progressive 500px steps. i've recorded an action photoshop, which speeds this up. the progressive reducing seems to help with clarity, and keeping lines true, rather than slightly jagged.

the problem with shooting in snowy woods is getting the exposure right. in situations like this, i just go for the best middle ground, as i know a little tweaking will easily correct it. expose perfectly for hte face, the snow is blown, expose perfectly for the snow, the face is a silhouette.

i don't really like using fill flash - i shoot too quickly, to start - all candids, and i like to have as much natural light as possible.

I'm a bit behind in commenting, but here goes. I think this is great material for a wonderful image (as can already be seen from the thumbs of the processed versions).

Oh my goodness - look at that expression. Very cute. The angle is great. Now let me look to see what you did in PP.

Hi Christian, didn't realize you were also in this minimal editing PAD. I really like the perspective here and composition with the orange slice. I don't think you could have chosen a much more difficult situation to meter properly. :-) If the face were properly exposed, that warm area in the back would blow for sure. What about fill flash though? Did you by chance try any exposures using it, or do you have fill flash on your camera?

Very Cute! I like the path behind and the perspective that you shot from. The orange slice adds some interest.
