This is a cheap trick. Squares are held in the left hand and backlit onto white sheet of paper. The squares were made of balsa wood and pinned together. A 250W halogen construction lamp was used to backligth

A side light is applied to the right hand which holds the rings on the opposite side of the paper. The left and right hands create a good 'mirror image' which increases the effect of the illusion.

The side light was shielded from the paper backgound.

The camera was set up about 10 feet away and zoomed in to make the rings appear close to its shadow.

Amusing trick; for me that's perhaps not quite enough of itself. I wonder if there isn't a slight lack of enough fine detail for the majority of voters - the image could perhaps be 'cleaner' in noise terms and slightly more contrast might help - deepen those 'shadows' a touch?

Very cool! Love the rings - but there appears to be something wrong with the reflection - can't quite figure it out... ;-)
