So...if you've looked in my portfolio, you know I have lots of Butte, Montana photos, mostly of old mining areas. This galus frame is leftover from the Belmont Mine. The upper part of the frames were used to support the cable, and the bottom right of the frame is the elevator down into the ground.

I've been looking for somewhere to shoot this particular frame for some time...but there is a building to the left of it (which I did my best to cut out) and the field area I'm in is fenced off on the other side (there's a road that you can't see that goes from the left of the frame right past the mine).

But through a little exploring, I found this. I'm not sure what those wood things in front are.

Any way, the galus frames are sort of a Butte Icon. They're up all over the uptown area. Butte was once known as the "Richest Hill on Earth" because of the mass amount of copper it once mined.

I hope you enjoyed the history lesson!

You have a real eye for composition and the DOF is fabulous on this. With a little saturation this will pop. I would also love to see this one in HDR.

This is lovely Ware!! Not DPC friendly... bah! Who cares?? Shoot for you first, us second! LOL I really like it and the story behind it is fabulous because it shows that you have to look twice at something every single time.
