Welcome from the Critique Club: This entry certainly meets the challenge, evoking the sulphur smell of a just extinguished match. The composition is good, if plain, although it would have been nice to bring out the color of the math heads still in the box. It appears slightly over-exposed and I wonder if the shadow of the box wouldn't have benefited from stepping back a bit. The textures are very interesting and add some depth to the image. |

Quite clever I thought, But i would have wished You attepmted to catch a match still burning in the process, i can better feel the "scent" then. |

less exposure would have brought more of the texture in your background |

Clean and simple. Good, solid background. Nice colors on the box and matches. Like the angle of the box and the placement of the burnt matches. Good work. Gave this an 8. |

Good depiction of the challenge. I can smell the sulphur already. Nice composition and good tones. I would have liked the matches in the box to be lit a little more evenly though. 9 |

Wow... This is the brand of matches I used when I lived in South Africa! I brought a bunch back to the states as souvenirs of my life in a tiny village without electricity there... Your photo is bringing back intense memories for me. I love it! |

Without the smoke there is no smell. Just doesn't convey the topic |

Great shot! although, I'm not sure how it relates to scents and aromas (perhaps if the match were still smoking...) |

Haven't seen those Vuurhoutjies (south-african?) in ages. Fantastic shot. Not sure about the smell, but the retro-feel from this makes it a special shot. (7) |
