Good friend of mine. Wanted a shot where the background wasn't completely out of focus. f16 made the background discernible.

It would have been easy to make this look flat but despite the muted colours it isn't flat at all- very nice

Great natural shot, right down to the freckles... Neat lighting that is even throughout. Great job.

The tones, the pose, the pensive expression make this a top notch portrait. I like this very much!

Her eyes look a bit soft and the colors a bit washed IMHO. I don't feel the background distracting here, she stands out enough.

I like this portrait although I think I would increase the contrast a little bit to improve it so she stands out more from the background. Very nice indeed.

Overall this is a lovely portrait. The choice to keep the background in focus like this is usually a tricky one. Sometimes it works better than others. It's ok here because it's quite uniform, it's a nice scene, and it sets her in an environment. But it could be a tad distracting if only for its business or the fact that her face isn't perfectly exposed. But a great image nonetheless.

I really like this. This is a great time of day to take portraits where the lighting isn't harsh at all. It makes for really nice tones on her face.

I have a feeling she is going to love this photo. It looks kind of candid and unposed which for me always adds to the look of a portrait.

The muted colours are good and I like the way you manipulated the f stop for the background focus. I am with Erin on the sparkle but I would also like just a taaaaaad more light on her face. Just my personal preference, it is fine the way it is :)

You did a great job with the DOF to keep your subject clearly in focus and separated from the backgound, while still allowing the surrounding environment enough clarity to complement the portrait. The nice, warm, even light enhances the natural beauty of your model. A hint of sparkle in the eyes might improve the image even more, but perhaps it works well as it is to lend a far-off, introspective mood.
