I visited my husband today at his office and took a bunch of photos of him as he went about his business, talking on the phone. This one was cropped in from a much wider angle. I'm loving how the 5D lets you do that and still have great resolution.

Kelly, I'm not sure about all the steps of my edit, but it included the following:
convert from raw
levels
major crop
convert to b&w
shadows/highlights
curves adjustment for more depth
dodge highlight in eyes
burn some shadow areas in shirt
did a separate selection on that blasted bright white mug to try to tone it down
touch of USM

Sandy, Michael is a mortgage banker, and "easy going" probably is not a phrase that would describe his personality very well. He is a very high-energy, efficient, type A personality. I take it upon myself to be extra laid back and easy going so that we balance each other out. :)

This has a "photo from the newspaper" feel to it. I like it!!!

Nice one. I really like what you did with this shot. Ahhhh, this'll be perfect if you save it and have it for his retirement party (yeah, I'm sure it'll be many many years in the future).

He looks like he works for BellSouth :) Much like a lot of the people I used to work with... memories... Your focus is great and the B&W conversion is AWESOME.

I love the way this turned out. It's candid but it's not, it looks like a drawing but still looks like a photo. His expression is just perfect. Very nice work!!

Erin, I LOVE this photo. I love the high contrasty look. I love how he looks like such an easy going kinda guy. (What other kind of guy would let his wife come into his job and follow him around with a camera :)

I wonder what kind of job he has. Photos like this always make me want to know more. . .they draw me in and connect me to the person so I want to know the story behind the person :) That is a great tribute to your photography! Wonderful job! AS ALWAYS!!!!

Nice, has a real journalistic feel to it, particularly with the b/w.

Love it! A real moment in the life of.... kind of shot. The processing looks great too as it emphasizes the image. :)

Nice candid shot, you can tell he didn't actually pose for it! I like the editing, nice higher contrast
