I used the flourescent lights in my shop for the lighting. I edited with iPhoto as follows: convert to Black and White, boost color, increase contrast. Then I opened the photo in Photoshop to resize for the competition.

this is a powerful shot. if the rule of thirds was applied here, i think it would have been a bit better.

Now here is something different. Good job with the black and white showing just how greasy and grimy the rear sprocket can be.

i like this a lot, the tones and DOF are perfect.

Interesting image. I like the concept and the composition. The only thing i would do is make the fingers a little bit more clear.
