 Young male lion. Entered him in challenges before - he wasn't well received then and don't expect he will be now. He's actually very beautiful and I love watching him. Not much editing, especially for an expert challenge but I didn't feel much was necessary.

My steps:
crop,sharpen,levels,curves
lots of mask layers with various gaussian blurs and sharpening
more mask layers used with screen and multiply for highlights (eyes) and shadows (vignette)

Courtenay, this is one of the most beautiful animal photos I have ever seen. I'm so glad it was better received this time! I would have been so disappointed if this one wasn't on the front page. If it were up to me, it would have a ribbon under it right now, but I'm glad at least it made the top 10 in an amazingly competitive challenge!

I like how the fur is smooth and ethereal looking while still maintaining very nice detail. Great tones as well. Nicely done!
