This is my son. He and I went down to visit the college he will be attending next fall. He seems to like looking scruffy. I thought about attempting to remove the facial hair but I thought it would be too difficult and not really realistic

Oh wow... mine leaves in about 6 years... I am going to lose my mind... he and I are like peas and carrots... I hope you don't get hit too hard with the "baby leaving" blues :) Great shot! Redheads are notoriously hard to capture well and you did a wonderful job!

It'll be six years from now that I'll be getting ready to send my daughter off to college, but I know those six years are going to fly by because the last six certainly did. This is a nice closeup portrait of your son. I might dodge the highlights and midtones in his eyes just a bit to make them shine, and perhaps desaturate the reds overall to reduce the pink tones. Make sure you snap lots more shots of him before he leaves. :)

No, the facial hair thing: That is the trend, and makes a kid look much more appealing in the eyes of their peers than the clean shaven look that appeals to the parents :)

Is he your first son leaving for school? Those are some straaange times, aren't they? Flooded with pride in their accomplishments, clouded with fear about what's ahead for these kids who you are sure couldn't possibly be ready to make good choices that affect the rest of their lives -- and most importantly flooded with grief about saying good-bye to family life as you know it. My thoughts are with you and your wife. And good luck to your handsome son!!
