Challenge: Insects II (Minimal Editing I*)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 5400
Location: Lakewood, CO

I found this guy hanging out on my patio door. I named him Beelzebub. Beelzebub demands your worship and your 10s.

I'm guessing that Beelzebub is about 1/6 the size of the macro. He's a teeny tiny little thing! This shot was lucky since I wasn't actually looking for an "Insect" entry, and then I found Beelzebub quite by accident while putzing around the apartment looking for new and exciting ways to procrastinate my homework. And beyond that, the shot is downright miraculous because it came out perfectly, even though it was manually focused without a tripod. That's right, this sucker was totally hand-held! I am completely dumbfounded. Can't wait to see how this does in voting, though Beelzebub will probably lose to some flaky diva of a butterfly.

Resized once and sharpened once - in that order.

Really really like the perspective. He looks downtrodden about how far he has to go. poor guy. or a little rest before the long run?

I'm not sure where this little guy is headed, but your use of negative space definitely makes it look like he has a very long way to go. Nice use of the shallow DOF. Great job!

Nice idea but I think a different angle to the light might have brought out some more colour in the lady bug.

The only nitpick I can make is the ladybug might have had a little more light on him. Otherwise, the composition and focus are great.

Good composition and DOF. Different than the typical ladybug pose on a leaf/flower.
