Meet a $2000.00 Bulldog named Harley. This pup is three months old and was just adopted on Friday by the president of the company where I work.

I didn't like the original background so I decided to black it out. Sure had a fun time clicking off many shots of this little chunky guy.

An adorable pup. Might want to keep working on the pp though as the edges are too sharp making this look like a cut out pasted on a black background.

DANG $2000!?!? Hope he's one heck of a stud! lol
Great shot, I think the blacked out bkgrd works really well.

Wow, that's one expensive pup! He is adorable though. Louis gave some good advice about maintaining the fine details in the fur.

The light is nice and the portrait itself is great, but I can clearly see the selection area around the dog that you did in post. If you use Photoshop, and if you want, you could try to overlay a dark (or underexposed in post) photo below an image you want to turn dark in the background, and set the blending mode of the original image to "Darken", or whatever would work best. You could also add a largish vignette around the portrait. Doing something like one of these would keep the fur and find details at the edges intact, and it'd look more natural. Overall though, nicely done.

This is awesome Dave! Of all the ones you showed me, you picked the right one to show off to us all. Although ALL of them are hear melting pet portraits!! You could always post a couple more of them before we're thru if the stranger thing doesn't work out.

It's amazing that this wasn't done in a studio -- your processing is perfect and you'd never know it wasn't a studio background!

FABULOUS job!
