|For the hair challenge, after thinking about many different ideas for a few days, my wife was sorting through my kids toybox, and found many toys with lots of hair! Finally found these - they are actually keyrings! The keychains are hanging down the back.
I made a swing out of an old floorboard, and several pins later the scene was together. The yellow hairball is actually upside down to get her eyes to look up, which is why her legs are shorter - they start on top of her head. :)
Editing was a lot of work for not much result. I didn't have a sheet of paper big enough for the background, so I stuck together 8 sheets of paper, and then had to edit the joins out in the final photo. Ironically, I also removed a lot of stray hairs. Real editing was a small amount of dodge and burn, crop, resize and USM.
Lighting was 2 desklamps with reflectors. One was positioned as a hair spot from the back, and the 2nd was a soft fill-light held above the lens.
My only other comment is that my other challenge entries have been brown/sepia/desat, so I vowed to shoot something with lots of bright colours this time. I guess I failed there, but when I realised I was doing brown again, I added the bow to her hair. Next time I will try for more real colour, I promise. :)
Post-challenge edit. Well, I really thought that this image was going to blitz all my previous scores, but it didn't do particularly well. Just goes to show, you can never tell. Better luck next time.
