Okay. I did not kill the beetle. I found it dead. Used my Canon 500D close filter. Did no editing what so ever. The shot did not come out as I envisioned. Close but cigar. I don't expect this to do well but I figure I should try some minimal editing. Hope people will kinda of like it. Held up a small light. Couldn't avoid the hot spot.

POST:
Thank you everyone for your nice comments. It was a cute idea that needs some work. Minimal edting definatly challenged me. Next time.

Very different. The use of the marble was a good idea. To make the beetle go rightside up. I like it. 8

Neat composition, shame the glass isn't completely clean/clear but I like the setup.

I really like your OOB thinking on this one. It looks like the beetle is in the marble which is kind of cool. What would have made this the DPC Wow shot is perhaps a little color or a bit more light. It's a great idea and is very well photographed.

Interesting. I can't quite tell if that's the beetle's reflection or a marble with a beetle inside it. It's a bit dark/under exposed and I am not fond of the light glare in the marble.
