 This spot on my Island is one of my favorites. Just to my right is an old restored Mansion which housed Alice Austen, the photographer who I look up to the most.

Basic editing. Sharpening, a crop and a border. Tripod mounted, 7 second exposure.

I really like the light above the city. Maybe if you had stood to the left of the sign, the arrow could have pointed to it. Who knows, but I like the shot. I think having that little piece of the sky lit really helps move the eye around the image.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Initial reaction: My kinda shot. To the left, but where is that? What's there? The posts remind me of chess pieces, or some weird alien soldiers. The city in the distance seems totally oblivious to what's taking place on this side of the water. It's a very cool story.

Technicals: Good stuff here. The lights above the arrow will be considered blown by some. I like the glow. Were this advanced editing, I'd suggest toning down the wood railing a bit (burning or selective levels, etc) to emphasize the sign and lights even more. Sky is very good, especially right over the city.

Meets challenge - yep, looks like it does to me.

A wonderful photo, except the bright red lights. Unfortunately that is what makes it Rule of Thirds. You met the challenge nicely. 7

The sky takes up half the shot, and the sign is too high. Nice exposure but doesn;t meet the challenge very well.
