The filter effect doesn't really the subject, besides, it looks too much like a compression artifact for my taste |

Well here's another one of those, I guess, DA's in the camera. Nice I guess but I do not know if the painterly effect is what I would have used to take a picture of a subject in a challenge whose theme is simplicity. |

Lose the effect and I'd vote it higher... |

Jesse looks so sad! I'm wondering why you chose to use this type of shot, dunno what's it's called but the effect (I mean). |

I'm honestly not too fond of whatever effects you used here... sorry... |

I see that member challenges can have PhotoShopping or effects, but open challenges are supposed to be natural photos, aren't they? |

Technical: Most all images submitted fit the challenge. Exposure composition focus lighting all relatively good, though I feel the processing makes the background more present and makes it detract from the subject. Actually, the processing itself detracts from the subject as well.
Personal:I feel this would be much more compelling if at the very least the dog's eyes were unprocessed, but preferably if the whole thing were unprocessed.
My vote: 4

I like it but think I would have preferred it in full colour. Beautiful animal. |

unfortunately i think the effect used takes away more than it adds to your shot |
