The amazingly symmetrical shell of the Desert Tortoise caught my eye for symmetry. This one was hatched last summer. The challenge is getting a shot in before they get to close. They are friendly little things and come "running" when they see me.
Tortoises are not slow :-)

[quote=sfalice] Greetings from the Critique Club

Thanks so much. I agree if I had moved the camera a bit to the left the distracting seed to the right in the picture would not be there either. Contrary to believes, small tortoises are not slow but move very fast especially if they think you have something good to eat:-))
My first thought was that the blur focused the baby more, after reading your comment I can see that some of it cropped out would look much better.
Your critique was very appreciated and thanks so much for taking the time.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Wow, great shot of that desert tortoise. Super coloring and super focus on the legs and head of this creature.

It's hard to know what to critique in this image because I like it a lot, but I did play around with the composition a little. Smack in the center of the frame is not always the best composition, and if this guy would let you, an off-center shot would also be good. And if it was mine, I'd probably crop out a bit more of the foreground blur, but that's a matter of opinion and your crop works fine.

So, all in all a good image that met the Challenge nicely and one that gave you a fairly decent score.

Keep up the good work and I'll look forward to seeing more of your work.

Aren't we all symmetrical? - good expression on the turtle, good DOF

He's one mean looking turtle! I like the blurred out effect all around the turtle, but it's too bad that the outer portion of the turtle's shell got blurred out too. Like the colours in the background - they play off nicely with the colours present in the turtle. Nice entry
