This is actually an egg, but it looks round from that angle. So I thought it looked like those lottery balls, which usually don't have irrational numbers on them.

Not much to say. I drew the pi-sign on the egg with a pen. Put the egg on my kitchen table at 11 o'clock in the evening. The light came from just a simple 40W light-bulb (result: grainy background. Too bad).

The original idea was to write pi in numbers from the top of the egg and all around it (all the way down) but I was too tired to do that and my handwriting is not in good shape.

The line in the background crosses the egg in the middle, as well as the shadow on the egg. I think it's cool because pi is used in lot of formulas to calculate ring's square- or cubic meters (by measuring the radius). Maybe I'm getting a little carried away here! ;-)

Editing in PS: adjusted the contrast and saturation. Curves.

Greetings from the Critique Club -

Nice simple image here. You easily met the challenge.

Never would have guessed it was an egg. I think if you used a highe raperture you would have caught more detail. AS it is it seems a bit soft. Not terribly so, but a bit more focus could have been nice. The light looks pretty good and the shadow is good. I really like that yoru horizon is level and actually intersects the egg at a pleasing point. A crooked horizon line would have really lessened the impact of this image.

This image to me is calling for a big border. A thin black line around the shot and then a fairly thick white border would have been nice IMO. Dont know how other voters would dig it, but it might give it a more complete feel to the image overall.

Really not a bad score. 5.8 for your second challenge is really good. My first four entries were all well below 5. Use this site to you rfull advantage. There is alot to be learned here and people willing to help. Most of all try and have fun here. This place is ablast. Welcome to DPC and good luck in the future!

Looks like the texture of an egg... Now I'm picturing a bunch of eggs being tossed around the inside of a lotto ball machine now. What a mess! Nice shot though :)

Plus: Love the concept, Nice shadow detail, good use of dof

Minus: The scale of the pingpong ball seems a bit off - too large for the image? The highlight on top of the ball is a bit overexposed, the writing on the ball could be a bit sharper

This is an engaging photo because of the lighting and the grain in the wood. Nicely done.

Could have used more lottery references in the picture

I would have prefered a dark background to make the ball pop.
