 Arrowleaf Balsamroot: Native Americans boiled the roots, stems, and leaves, and drank the decoction for stomach pains and headaches; they also steamed the plant and inhaled the vapors for the same purposes. The leaves were also used to sooth burns. Ripe seeds of the plant were pounded into flour. The fleshy, edible roots were often eaten raw and apparently taste like balsam. The stems were often eaten raw after pealing to reveal the tender inner portion of the young immature plant.

Wow!! What a gorgeous setting your subject is set in! That is too pretty to be real! It's amazing that something that beautiful could have so many incredible uses too. It makes me want to go to Whole Foods and see if I can find some Arrowleaf.
