This did not turn out as well as I had hoped, but I'm at least happy enough with it to submit. I was trying to recreate truffula trees from the Dr. Seuss book "The Lorax" - would have liked a bit more blur on the tops of the palms, but it was just too windy for that.

Nice use of selective colour. When you see the palms like that, they actually do look like something out of a Seuss book.

It has this unrealistic over-edited feel.
My personal opinion, of course.
But, that was my favorite book when I was little.

Oh the coloful truffula trees,
Was the one on the right already made into thneeds?
The wispy and wonderful colors abound,
And the stripes on the trunks go around and around.

Interesting idea and the color treatment makes it easy to see these as truffula trees. Really feels like one is missing on the right, especially since you had plenty of room to not leave the left one cut off. If you were going for that idea of having one already cut down, perhaps holding something up just a bit into the frame to serve as the chopped down trunk would have been helpful? Just an idea.

Nice idea, although it has ended up looking a bit over-edited. It's a pity the image had to rely so heavily on editing to fit the challenge. While you were at it, the sky could have been a richer colour.

Editing is not that good here. You need to pratice on your masking, Good try but needs a lot of work.

don't like the cropping so much... too much dead space on the right
