This was just after our first real snow here in southwestern Indiana. The icicle start is on the corner of a shed, backdropped by a wooden fence and pine trees.

The only modification to the original picture is the size.

maybe a tad out of focus, but the seemless background with the shallow depth of field works nicely here...

I think it is too centered in the frame, but I like the fact that the background is completly blurred out. 6

Beautiful focus. The depth of field is incredible. I like the details in the wood grain. Great reflections in the icicle.

... but a bad finish! Just kidding.

DOF is quite narrow on this which I find a bit distracting. You could have got closer to this if you're not interested in focusing on the surrounding snow, as there is a fair bit of 'dead zone' around the subject. Moving around the icicle to get some directional light would have yielded more form in the ice rather than backlighting it.

I love the "simplicity" of this photo. Very good capture with the snow on the roof and the icicle hanging down. Good job!

I like this shot very much, this reminds me of my childhood when I used to sit at the window and watch the icicles drip of the edge of the roof, the clarity is wonderful and you dof is great, the background being completely removed focuses the interest on the subject, good job

Nice texture on the ice. I/ve seen so many shots in which the drop of water is caught just after the moment of release from the icicle that I can't help but compare them to yours.
