 This is a photo taken at my brother's graduation ceremony Saturday, May 5 from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. There were so many people around it was hard to get a shot, but just as he was walking up to receive his diploma I called out his name and he looked back just long enough for me to snap this. It was a beautiful day and most definitely qualifies as a 'cultural event' I would think! :)

I'm not expecting a high score - but I wanted to enter something with my new Canon 30D! I'm pretty excited!

I don't care for the cap tassels in his face - but hey, what can you do in the heat of the moment?

Well composed with the main subject being right on one of the "sweet spots". Nice colors and great exposure. The light mark on the post is somewhat distracting. Cloning it out would help but may not be legal under basic editing. Good detail in the hair of the people in the foreground. The positioning of the graduates creates a nice leading line throughout the frame.

The challenge: Interesting take on this challenge. I don't believe I remember seeing this approach used on any other submission. The title really brings home that graduation is indeed a passage into adulthood.

Good picture but would be great with a blurred forground so your eye is drawn to the guy's face... i'm not entirely sure if that's allowed though.
