 Shot during a snow squall on a recent vacation day from work. This area is particularly marshy, with a some fantastic views of Cache Valley, and I was hoping for a spectacular sunset across the mountains to the west (like the day previous). I've found that after a storm moves through the valley, the light from the sunset tends to cast a pinkish hue across the landscape, but unfortunately, there were a few too many clouds to the west on this day. This was one of my favorite shots that fit this challenge... I captured more than 200 frames during the afternoon.

Technical:
Camera forced to 'Cloudy' white balance setting. Increased saturation 10, contrast 10, brightness 10. Resized for submission, USM at 200%/0.3px/10. Cropped 1px from the top, then added the border.

Too many reeds in the shot. This shot could be great in a portriat orientation (to go with the length of the reeds), and then zoom in only about 1/4 of what is currently there. When you find things like this to shoot, don't be afraid to take 10 or 20 shots from all different angles, zooms, and orientations. Get a bigger CF memory card if you have to! :)

The composition is excellent. This is one time when a cloudy sky works. Great colors, too.

I like the reeds and the colors. By keeping them as the focus, it lessens the impact of the mountains and shoreline, maybe helping me think how small we humans are compared to nature.I don't know about the half and half composition. I guess it would have been more effective if there were reeds on the right side to balance it out.

Nice shot. Still water. I would have rated it a bit better if the water grass wasn't the main focus in the picture. It's a great shot and the border helps and it does fit the challenge. 6

Very nice. I feel it's a little to focused on the left. Panning to the right a little bit showing less grass and more water might give a different effect with more emphasis on the water. Great picture none the less.

Excellent colors and tones. Nice compostion. Exceptional shot. I feel like I'm standing there and taking it all in. I like to enjoy these moments in the early morning before the first cast, and then disturbing the surface.

Beautiful scene. Colors are very nice. The composition would be easier on the eyes if cropped a bit more on the left side of the picture. The reeds seem to overwhelm the picture.
