Well, I really wanted to get back into DPC, so i thought I'd shoot for this challenge. Initially I was thinking of doing the long straight road style photo, but couldn't think of anywhere close where I wouldn't get runover :P ... So I've always wanted to do this shot, and I wanted to try out my new sigma 10-20, so this is what I came up with after a lot of experimentation.

Lighting was pretty dodgy, just flourescent bulb in my room. Biggest problem with this shot was DOF. I couldn't get enough of it :( ... So i shot at f/22, and hope for the best... Took a fair bit of sharpening to get it here... Also, i wanted it on a black background... but my black sheet wasn't big enough :( ...

Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)

Composition/Lighting : classic vanishing point shot, done well also. i think the reason for all the sub-6 votes is because of the top tight crop. if tilted back a little more, i feel it would have done better seeing the actual vanishing point. here the viewer is left wondering, which sometimes is a good thing but i think in this instance the vanishing point needs to be visible .

Challenge : this definitely meets the challenge, but as stated the end needs to be seen to finish the point of vanishing.

Conclusion : very nice score, good placement, and well shot. you should be proud of this. very nice job. keep up the great work

Keep on shootin!

Good luck on your future challenges:)

More of the handle please... The crop is a bit too tight at the top.

This is a well-balanced, documentary type image. What it's missing IMO is some drama. Some "Wow!". For this subject I think you could have done a little more with lighting, perhaps something soft to pick up the shimmer on the strings, darker around the outside of the composition. A single light source out of view towards the far neck end. ??? Just a thought. Good luck in the challenge.

I love this concept. I wish you could have gone a little farther up the strings though. Great detail.

Novel idea... I like it. Would benefit from being a bit sharper and perhaps cropping off the lower 1/4 of the image.

This is a classic image that has been done many times. You have done it very well. Great capture.

Nice Photo. I'm not sure that it would help or hurt the photo, but for some reason I'm disappointed that I can't see the far end of the guitar.
