There is colour in it!!!!! Burn the heretic!!!!!

This is a shot from a local cricket match (I entered another in the sports challenge). Thought I might try my hand at focal black and white as I am struggling big time in terms of the Week 1 DPL challenge...The effect is OK, but far from perfect and redjulep and the rest of her team must be rubbing their hands together in anticipation (I kinda like the effect for all its imperfections though)

I feel I got some very nice action shots, put the problem was I was zoomed into the digital zone and did not have a tripod. The result...bot is this shot noisy!!! (Perhaps I could pretend that I was trying to capture the feeling of olden day England but that would be a LIE!!!

love this one jon .. great action shot .. and that small but important bit'v colour works so well .. i reckon a bit'v selective saturation works real well in a b&w image .. i actually did it in that last one of the weird bling for sheep .. i faded it out so much that i dont think anyone'd even notice tho .. did the batsman hit the ball tho??:)

This is a cool action shot, I love the expressions on thier faces, and the noise doesn't look bad to me. Yeah, tripod...don't leave home without it! Any tripod to start with, even a cheap one will really help in most cases, I find it much easier to concentrate on composition using a tripod as well. Cool shot though in any case and good luck in week one of DPL!!!

Great selective desat. The ball might get lost without it? Maybe not, lol! They have great focus and determination. Great capture and I like the grain.

Tripod, tripod, tripod - do I have to hit you over the head with it?

If not use the ground - it's usually pretty solid!

Excellent moment all the same - and who's a fancy boy doing selective desat?

Don't listen to that last guy. Cool image and perspective. It's just a tad grainy (noticable mostly on the whites), but the focus of the two opponents is quite good.

Since the color is so tiny, it doesn't count :) It actually adds such a nice touch to the photo. You might miss this ever-so-important element in your photo if it wasn't made to really pop. It's perfect! And the slight grain really adds to the photo and looks quite intentional -- so without lying, you could say that you captured the feeling of olden day England without even trying :)

I love the photo! I'm an huge baseball fan, so this really appeals to me!
